Yes. We process each customer's fish separately, and you get back the fish that you brought in. Interested in how we keep everyone's orders organized? In our lobby, we have a live video feed of our processing rooms, and you can watch the processing that is currently going on in real time!
You do not need to make a reservation in advance for your fish processing. However, if you have a large group or are expecting 500+ lbs of fish, it is helpful if you call us to let us know when you may be coming in so we can be prepared with appropriate totes or cooler space. You may also choose to fill out any paperwork or shipping forms in advance so that your check-in process is quick and easy.
You can bring your fish in any way you'd like (whole, gutted, headed & gutted, filleted, chunked, etc), but keep in mind that we charge our processing fee based on the incoming weight of the fish.
For the best quality fish, we recommend that you gut your fish as soon as possible. Gutting your fish quickly results in firmer meat, less time for parasites to move into the meat, and eliminates "belly burn."
If your fish is already frozen, leave it frozen when you bring it in. Do not thaw it in advance.
We can provide after hours pick-ups, but arrangements must be made in advance. You can make arrangements either in person, or you can give us a call.
We accept fish drop offs after hours. We have insulated totes that you can drop your fish in and cards to leave your contact information and any instructions you may have. The bins are checked regularly, but we cannot be held liable for fish that gets damaged or stolen (by human or bear): All after-hours drop offs are left at your discretion.
All of our smoked products are fully cooked and ready to eat. You may choose to eat them cold, or you can warm them up and add them to a meal (such as a soup, chowder or pasta).
If the packaging says "Keep frozen. Thaw under refrigeration immediately before use." then that item needs to stay frozen or refrigerated. It is not shelf stable and should not be left out at room temperature.
While our smoked fish and our smoked snack sticks are usually fine in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks, they will have better flavor and texture if they are consumed within 1-2 days after thawing.
Yes. All of our seafood products are fished in Alaskan waters, and we source our seafood from commercial canneries and commercial fishermen.
