Yes. All of our seafood products are fished in Alaskan waters, and we source our seafood from commercial canneries and commercial fishermen.
While every effort is made to avoid cross contamination in our facility, we are a facility that processes fish, shellfish, wheat/gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, tree nuts, and sesame.
Yes. We are subject to inspections by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). Cleanliness and sanitation are extremely important to us, and our processing rooms and equipment are thoroughly washed and sanitized each day. We also follow HACCP guidelines, and we have HACCP certified staff members working in our facility.
All of our smoked products are fully cooked and ready to eat. You may choose to eat them cold, or you can warm them up and add them to a meal (such as a soup, chowder or pasta).
No. We currently only offer seafood products in our retail store. We will happily custom-process any game animals you bring to us, but we do not currently offer any game meat items for sale in our retail store.
Due to the perishable nature of our products, we ship Monday through Wednesday (except national holidays) so packages arrive before the weekend.
Please be advised that Kodiak can be impacted by weather and other events out of our control that can cause shipping delays. We will monitor these events and ship your package on the next available date.
We will gladly ship to Hawaii but the shipping fees vary. Give us a call and we can give you a more accurate shipping estimate.
We use insulated shipping boxes for our shipments of frozen products. We typically ship our boxes through FedEx, but we can ship through UPS or Alaska Air Cargo if preferred. We recommend that all shipments through FedEx or UPS be shipped "next day air" so they arrive on your doorstep in 24-36 hours. We do not recommend "second day air" as products may not arrive frozen after 48-60 hours. Boxes must be shipped to a physical address and cannot be shipped to PO boxes.
No. Dry ice is not currently available anywhere on Kodiak Island. However, we will package your shipment as tightly as we can and add ice packs if possible.
While most shipments arrive and are still completely frozen, it is not uncommon for some of the product to arrive partially thawed. As long as the product is still cold, you can just put it in your freezer.
